“Jukebox” by L. K. Thayer

Balm in Gilead

L. K. Thayer

and you

play another song
and then another

put in
another quarter

and another

a different tune
a different beat
but the same old song
plays over and over
and you can’t get
it outta your head

and it don’t depend
if you’re wearing
black or red
same old track
keeps harping back
and you give the
jukebox a smack

but it don’t

matter
if you can’t

hear

the music
anyway

Yeah, baby. Beautiful. (And was that the best set ever, or what?)

Bob Zentis strikes again, right? He was a genius!
