Sweeping up the broken glass
of my past
so I can walk
barefooted and bare hearted
without being bombarded
by left over shards
snagging my heart
and ripping apart
my mended wounds
stitched together
with gentle threads
some still fresh and healing.
Discarding this painful debris
with it’s still sharp edges
jagged from repetitive breakings
will soften the scars
that yet linger in my heart
and thus enable me
to move about more freely
without sudden piercing swipes
puncturing the tender flesh
of my sensitive heart.
This is in honor of the loss of your precious pet, may your heart heal soon. Keep writing beautiful poetry my dear 🙂
Hi Lisa! Thank you so much for choosing to share this poem of mine on your enchanting page 🙂 And thank you for your kind words offered as I heal in the missing of my beloved Matilda… and thank you for the encouragement to keep writing… writing is akin to breathing for me, so I shall keep on writing my poetry 🙂 Blessings dear
Tender words and thoughts indeed!
