“Praises From A Tenor Sax” by L. K. Thayer

like salt on a bloodsucker

recoiling, shriveling

paralyzed fits of punishing

with the sell-out

the down and out

muck and mire choir

praises from a tenor sax

and a song

you can’t let go of…

fill the loving cup

and drink it dry

try to stay away

but you can’t fight

the pull

of the taffy

you get stuck in the

and you wanna

die happy

I love the poetry
I love the people
like hungry children
like needy beggars
we ned the inspiration
to carry on
in the face of such immensity
when economies are falling
and depression is rising
and everyone says no
I say yes to keeping the language
and its many voices alive.
The word painters and the painters
with the brush
and the invisible brush of images
The prose and poems
will touch you
one for one
one for another for
certainly in our time
the end f 201
we need the voice of poets
that spoke through the beats
The Kerouac’s and Mcheline;s
of the world
who are now blooming
to keep poetry alive
is to keep life alive
while poets write
and painters paint
and doers do
there is hope for the world
for they will never
silence these voices
and we will rise
a sisterhood a brotherhood
rise up against oppression
and hatred.
We will plant the seeds
for peace
and revolution
wherever the soul is violated
and mankind’s needs
are pushed under.
Keep the poem alive
and God Damn come tonight.
There is something for you here
whoever you are.

“i carry your heart with me”

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

“Once Was A Kid With Hero” by John Broyles

Once was a kid with hero dreams
Solid hopes
Exist now a machine
Controlled by pulleys and ropes
Fear gated
I reside foolish thoughts of protection
Against threatened larceny
I add to the perspiring of brilliance
My stoned illusion observation
Concluding that all things are inclusive
In the nakedness of this current
I call to you of varied pigmentation
So called agents of change do the same

Live life like Las Vegas
Dance with crusty shamans of asphalt concept
Space walking fame
In the cusp of mad genius
Sing angels or demons
Wait on stars
Once chained animal
Barking at shadows possessed
Down goes the faint outline of
Tried initiative for the pale persons
Imprisoned vile anvil devise ridden city
Downed like a gone boxer obese
Learning the limits of aged flesh
By way of fixed dealings
Blood soaked failure paid in full
The ninth round coming down
As if doom fed the horizontal end
Morrison words parched on addicted lips
A ghost wrapped in subway garb- smelling of revenge
Selling dead comments of recommended living
Motorhead is louder than the false wail of a hollywood whore

Seething through a wealthy scum
Monetary worth a healthy sum
Sex pimping gambler
