“In The Grips” by VC Ferry

it’s over, I mean, completely over

and as much as I think i’ve got
things down pat…bam, the pain comes…and when it comes, its my habit to run and
keep running…but I am all alone, and there is no where to run to…sitting here,
feeling this empty pit in my stomach…with the reminder that it’s OK to feel
this pain…

breathing in, breathing out

“Uneasy Chair” by L. K. Thayer

I can’t get the

bitter taste
of you out of my

mind,

you’re a nasty muse.

I gave you my lining

I gave you my inseam

I wore my favorite

jeans.

undone

I sit like a cat

waiting

for the next twig to

snap
to hear if there’s

an echo or
something,

anything to bounce

off of.
but there is

no murmur
to fill my void.

you lean back in your
easy chair

while the rest of the city

rots

and sinks into potholes
on bumpy roads to
nowheresville

you
scratch your balls
and worry

that you’re out of cream

and Sweet & Low

for tomorrow morning’s

cup o’

joe

“Recover” by L. K. Thayer

and your
springs are

gone
and your
stuffing
is coming
out

and you can’t

stuff it
in anymore

and you feel
punched
in the gut
and your body
aches

with regret

and you think

what did I say
can I take it all back
can I make
an exchange

can I make amends

and you ask yourself

can you pretend

that you don’t know

what you know

and you walk out

the door

cause you know

you can’t let it sit
inside you

anymore
